Travel Kettles That Free You!

I bought my first portable travel kettle after staying at a 4 star hotel in Las Vegas which to my surprise didn’t have tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

I was shocked and unprepared for this as I had become accustomed to seeing this as a standard complimentary feature but I guess more and more hotels are removing them from rooms to save money and probably to encourage you to pay their often horrendous room service prices or get you into their cafes and restaurants in the morning.

Room service annoys me so I don’t use it and having to leave my room to buy over-priced coffee just sucked so I vowed to always bring a small portable travel kettle with me in future. After all, I’m not going to be lugging my Ninja Coffee Bar around!

I didn’t know this before but it turns out a lot of people also take their own mini kettles for hotel stays and there are specific kettles for travel produced which work on both US and international voltages so you can take them all over the world when you go on vacation.

It makes a lot of sense in terms of convenience, and it’s cheaper than buying espresso and coffee from room service or having to visit a hotel restaurant or find some local drive through coffee house, but its also the much more sanitary option too.

I had never really thought about it before my Vegas trip but many of those hotel kettles you usually find have been used over and over by complete strangers and who knows how well they’ve been cleaned out afterwards.

I know who has used my small travel kettle for hotel use – me – and I know its clean and hasn’t been used for any nefarious purposes.

I first learned about these cool little guys on the Cookware Junkies website a few years ago. I use it as a hotel coffee maker for me, as a tea maker for my wife and both of us use it for boiling water for instant soups or in her case, Ramen noodles for those moments when you are hungry but don’t want to leave the room.

It’s a nice convenience to have and travel kettles for hotels don’t take up a lot of room in your luggage either. I later bought a 12V car kettle for heating up beverages on the road which came in handy on a camping trip too. Car kettles take a while to heat up, but they do the job admirably considering the small amount of power a car batter provides.

Does a mini travel kettle sound like something you yourself would want to own? It’s a cleaner, cheaper and more convenient option than relying on hotel provisions and a good one isn’t expensive either.

You’ll find some great reviews on portable kettles for traveling here which make great gifts for people who travel a lot or for yourself. All are well rated and reviewed by their owners for your peace of mind – no poor products to sort through, just the best rated travel kettles.

Best Mini Kettles For Hotel Stay

Not all hotels provide in room coffee and tea making facilities and that means calling down for expensive room service beverages or leaving your room to get a decent cuppa. Even when you do get a coffee maker or water boiling kettle in your hotel or motel room there’s always that nagging question about who used it before and whether it is really as clean as it looks…assuming it even looks clean of course.

Was that dirty washcloth used to wipe around the toilet bowl also used to wipe out the carafe? You’ll never know and its doubts like that which make bringing your own travel kettle for hotel stays all the more appealing.

Mini travel kettles are typically designed to work on both US and international voltage with the flick of a switch and many come with a plug attachment for both two and three pin plug sockets or you can buy your own for a couple of dollars. These small kettles for travel are typically large enough to hold a few cups of water but not as large and bulky as the ones you will see as a permanent fixture in a kitchen.

Portable kettles are after all meant to be packed away in a suitcase so a lightweight compact size is the more import factor here as few people would want to carry around their heavy brushed steel water kettle around with them anyway.

Mini kettles for travel may be small and compact in size but they still offer all the features a regular home water boiler offers and more. Travel kettles have fill level indicators, boil dry prevention, cool touch outer walls and all the other mod cons you’ll find on regular brands but with the added ability to work on multiple voltages and being smaller, are easier to transport in a suitcase or travel bag.

The following small travel kettles are well reviewed by their owners who are pleased with their purchase. Not all portable kettles for hotel rooms, caravans, RVs, etc. are built the same but you can be assured these are some of the best rated models on the market.

A lightweight portable kettle which fits in a suitcase or overnight bag is ideal for a hotel stay or, if your features dual voltage settings which allow it to work on both U.S. and European power then also perfect for international vacations, but these aren’t going to help you when you are on the road when there’s nowhere to plug them in to.

For that, you are going to need a 12V automobile kettle for cars, trucks, vans and other motor vehicle. These 12 volt car kettles plug into the cigarette lighter port and draw power from the vehicle battery to warm up water to its boiling point.

These battery powered water heaters for cars and trucks are ideal for people who spend a lot of time on the road, whether it is for business or pleasure, as they allow you to heat water for coffee, tea or perhaps for making instant soup or noodles when you want a snack, without having to hunt down a service station or pay through the nose for drive through coffee at someplace like a Starbucks.

Mothers with babies also appreciate being able to boil water to heat a bottle or sterilize things whilst on the go when this may otherwise be an inconvenience.

There are two types of car coffee makers or automobile hot water boilers which can be bought to serve slightly different purposes. You can find car coffee pots or tea makers which resemble a regular portable kettle but streamlined to fit in with the more cramped environment of a motor vehicle.

These are regular water boiling devices which you fill with water, plug in and wait for the water to heat up just like a regular home kettle.

The second type is a plain water boiling element which has a plug on one end which goes into the cigarette lighter socket to pull power from the battery and a heating element on the other often with a small clip or clamp which attaches to the side of a cup or bowl.

These you dunk directly into the beverage or soup to heat it up and they have the added advantage of being great for giving beverages a quick reheat when they cool down to a less palatable level.

Automotive kettles are water boilers are often less kettle-like than travel kettles for hotels and international travel but if you need a caffeine fix on the road and either don’t want to take the time to pull into a service station, begrudge paying their prices or simply travel in areas where such things are few and far between then they are ideal.

Immersion water heaters are the style of in-car coffee maker or water heating element which you put directly into the cup to boil water or heat up soups or other beverages.

There are several different ones on the market although the style and function is pretty much the same wherever you choose to look.

The following has the best reviews and is recommended by its owners and H2Sr as well!
